Maintain Your Financial Aid

Your eligibility for federal financial aid - Pell grants, work-study, Stafford loans - is based on your economic need, as determined by the FAFSA. However, federal regulations require that you meet certain academic standards to maintain your financial aid.

To maintain your financial aid, you must: have a 2.0 cumulative GPA or higher; complete and pass at least 2/3 of your courses; graduate within 150% of the number of credits required to do so.

Some suggestions for maintaining your GPA: go to class, turn in assignments on time, schedule appropriate time to study, attend a study skills workshop, attend a time management workshop, talk to your instructors, ask questions in class, ask for help when you need it, get a tutor, find a work-school-life balance.

Some suggestions for maintaining your completion rate: use withdrawals sparingly, avoid credit overload in a given semester, pay attention to drop dates (dropped classes do not count against your completion rate but withdrawals do), complete AAA 099 hours in a given semester, stick it out to the end.

Some suggestions for graduating on time: career exploration to avoid excessive degree changes, follow an individual education plan, avoid superfluous courses, maintain your completion rate (so you don't have to take a class multiple times).
