Stay On Task While Studying

We are filled with good intentions, but how easy is it to get off track when sitting down to study? Some ideas to stay on task...

1. Remove distractions from your surroundings: Turn off your phone. Do not study by the television or your computer. Find a quiet place where no one will interrupt you.

2. Add variety to your studying: If you are losing focus due to boredom, then switch to homework for a different class. Or, switch from a reading assignment to a writing assignment. Or if you always study alone, mix in some group studying, and vice versa.

3. Keep your mind on point: If you start daydreaming, stand up for a few minutes to finish the thought, then return to your studies. Or, keep a notepad nearby where you can write down any tasks or distractions that pop into your head - i.e. "Pay electric bill by tomorrow." Or, use a key phrase that you always repeat to yourself when your mind starts to wander - i.e "time to study" or "get it done."
